Performance with this unit has been just fine. Installed 2 years ago on my sailboat to hook up to my fixed mount VHF radio to enable full DSC capabilities. No issues at all since it has been installed including 6,000 offshore miles. Position information comes up in about a minute with SOG and COG information as well. Came with above deck and below deck mounting options. I mounted mine below deck as I understand that GPS signals go through fiberglass hulls without too much difficulty. Connects via NMEA 0183, so should be compatible with most marine electronics. I have nothing else to ask of this unit so I gave it 5 stars.

Very desapointed when i dicide to buy it i did read the advertisment and discrive as a brand new item but for the experience that i have with garmin products this was a refunished item it was ship in a white & blue box and this is the color of boxes that garmin use for a repaired unit when it is a brand new garmin product garmin will ship with a box with pictures of the item on the box also include specification and a full description of the item .
